It is hard to get a bad shot along this strecth of the Alaska Railroad.

Stretched along the shore line of Turnagain Arm at low tide. I had hoped for a longer train but you take what you get in Alaska.

After waiting for this train for a few hours in Whittier the chase was on. The last train off of the barge at Whittier heads north towards Anchorage on what turned out to be a very fine afternoon.

It's just after 10 PM as a northbound freight with 67 cars and well over a mile of freight wends its way north along Turnagain Arm about 16 miles from the end of it's journey in downtown Anchorag... (more)
